What is an Obstacle or a Safety Hazard?

Any vehicle that is stuck
on the tracks or in the vicinity of the railroad crossing.

People in the area of the railroad track or dangerously near the tracks.

Rocks, boulders, boards and so forth lying on the tracks.

A broken railroad barrier or one whose mechanism is not functioning properly: the barrier crossing gate, the bell or the stoplight.

What kind of information is important to report to the Emergency Center receptionists?

The most important information is the location of the obstacle or the safety hazard. In the event that you are near the said railroad crossing, indicate the number of the crossing that appears on the sign. In the event that you are in a different location, along the railroad tracks, please indicate a prominent point of reference: a prominent town or settlement, junction, building, etc.

After reporting the location to the receptionist, describe the obstacle or safety hazard as clearly and explicitly as possible; this will enable the receptionist to take the most suitable and appropriate actions in handling the situation.
