In order to ensure that all our customers have a pleasant service and journey, when travelling with a bicycle on the train, please ensure that the following regulations are observed:

Folding bicycles-Can be taken on the train

  • ​Can be taken on any train, during all operating hours and activities. However, between Sunday to Thursday, bicycles with wheels more than 20 inches in diameter may not be taken on the train between the hours of 06:00 – 09:00 and 15:00 – 19:00.


Non-foldable bicycles-May be taken on the train:

  • Sunday to Thursday, between 09.00 to 15.00 and from 19.00 to 06.00 the following day.

  • Friday and the day of a festival – during all operating hours.

  • ​Saturday evening (after the Sabbath) and the evening following a festival, non-folding bicycles may not be taken on the train.


What bicycles can be taken on the train:

  • Two wheeled bicycles only
  • ​​​​Bicycles considered by an authorized official to represent a potential danger to train passengers may not be taken on the train.


Transporting bicycles within the station and on platforms:

  • ​Please use only those gates with the appropriate signs and ensure that the ticket has been stamped at the barrier.

  • It is forbidden to take bicycles on the escalators. Only use the lifts or stairs to access or leave the platform. 

  • Riding of bicycles anywhere within the station is prohibited. This includes all public areas, ticket halls, platforms and connecting passageways.

  • ​It is forbidden to lock bicycles within the station area, including platforms, ticket halls and all passageways, other than in those areas specifically allocated for this purpose. Bicycles locked in any unauthorized areas will be removed and the owner will be responsible for any costs entailed by Israel Rail.


Boarding the train with a bicycle

  • Bicycles may only be carried on the designated carriage displaying the appropriate identification.

  • Bicycle owners must remain close to their bicycles throughout the journey to be available to the train's inspector and to move them if necessary.

  • Bicycles must not be locked whilst on the train.  Locked bicycles will be removed from the train and the owner will be responsible for any costs entailed by Israel Rail.

  • Please take care to ensure that passageways leading to the accessible carriage for disabled passengers are kept clear for passengers using wheelchairs.

  • Please stay by your bicycle throughout the journey so that they can be moved to make space if required by the train's inspector.



  • ​​Electric bicycles and batteries may not be charged on the train. The train's electrical system is designed for mobile devices only.

​Take note: Taking bicycles / hoverboards / scooters onto a train travelling to / from the Jerusalem - Yitzchak Navon Train Station, will not be permitted. 

Remember, Israel Rail is not responsible for damage, loss or theft that could occur to bicycles either during the journey or whilst left in the station area. This includes bicycles being carried in the designated carriage.​​
