The compensation owed for closure of a section of track

Track infrastructure needs regular maintenance, which sometimes requires the temporary closure of a section of track.

If you possess a flexible 30-day or flexible 7-day Rav Kav, and your journey was prevented because of the temporary closure of a section of track, which Israel Railways did not announce on its website or at train station seven days prior to the date the ticket was purchased, you are eligible for an extension to use the ticket, based on the kind of ticket in your possession.

Pursuant to Ministry of Transportation instructions:

A monthly student ticket of any kind does not grant its holder compensation for the closure of a section of track. 

If there was notice on the website and at stations of the closure of a section of track 37-days prior to the closure, holders of a flexible 7-day Rav Kav will not be eligible for an extension of use of the ticket. 

If there was notice on the website and at stations of the closure of a section of track 37-days prior to the closure, holders of a flexible 30-day Rav Kav will also not be eligible for an extension of use of the ticket. 


Exercising the compensation

To exercise the compensation, carry out the following exercise of eligibility action:

Send the Rav Kav on which the 7-day or 30-day ticket for a journey was loaded at the teller/vending machine/validation machines at the station.

To exercise the compensation in full, exercise the eligibility no later than the following day after the 7-day or 30-day ticket in your possession expires. If you do so later, only load the balance of the compensation period. 

Following the expiry of the compensation period, you no validity extension or other compensation will be granted.
