Temporary suspension of rail service on the Ashdod-Ashkelon section and extensive changes in rail service in the south, due to track replacement work


From 00:01 on the night of Thursday, 5 September 2019-Friday, 6 September 2019, through 04:00 on Sunday, 8 September 2019

Friday, 6 September 2019
  • The Tel Aviv Hahagana and Tel Aviv Hashalom stations will be closed.* Southbound and northbound rail service will terminate and begin at the Tel Aviv Savidor Central station.
  • Trains on the Ashkelon-Lod section will operate between the Lod and Rehovot stations
  • Trains on the Beer Sheva Central-Ashkelon-Tel Aviv Hahagana section will operate between the Beer Sheva Central and Ashkelon stations. The following stations will be closed:
    • Tel Aviv Hahagana
    • Holon Junction
    • Holon Wolfson
    • Bat Yam Yoseftal
    • Bat Yam Komemiyut
    • Rishon LeZion Moshe Daya
    • Yavne West
* The Tel Aviv Hashalom Station, as stated in the schedules, is not operating on Friday, because of track electrification work. 
Weekend train service on the Tel Aviv Hahagana-Lod and Tel Aviv-Modiin Central routes is also suspended.



Saturday night, 7 September 2019

  • The Ashdod Ad Halom and Yavne East stations will be closed.
  • Train service on the Ashkelon-Binyamina route will operate between the Binyamina-Rehovot stations.
  • Trains on the Beer Sheva Central-Ra'anana West line will operate in a divided format:
    • Southern section – to/from the Ashkelon Station.
    • Northern section – to/from Yavne West Station.
  • Trains on the night of Saturday, 7 September 2019 and Sunday 8 September 2019 on the Beer Sheva Central-Tel Aviv Hahagana line will operate between the Beer Sheva Central and Ashkelon stations.

Compensation during the closure
Tracks require regular maintenance, which sometimes requires the temporary closing of a rail section. If you have purchased a 30-day flexible Rav Kav or 7-day flexible Rav Kav, and you cannot travel because of a temporary closure of a track section, which was not announced on the Israel Railways website and in the stations seven days from the day the tickets were purchased, you be eligible for an extension of the use period of the ticket, depending on the type of ticket in your possession.

Pursuant to Ministry of Transport instructions:
  • The holders of student period tickets of any kind are not eligible for compensation for the closing of a track section.
  • If notification of the closing of a track section is announced on the website and at the stations 14 days before the start of the closure, holders of 7-day flexible Rav Kav will not be eligible for an extension.
  • If notification of the closing of a track section is announced on the website and at the stations 37 days before the start of the closure, holders of 30-day flexible Rav Kav will not be eligible for an extension.
