Launch of the Modi’in Center - Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon Line

Dear Passengers,
As of Thursday, March 31, 2022, commercial operation will start on a new, electric and advanced railway line that will travel between Modi'in and Jerusalem in less than half an hour: The Modi’in Center - Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon Line.
  • Trains on the line will operate throughout all hours of operation, all days of the week (including Fridays and Saturdays), initially in the frequency of one train every hour, in each direction and later at the rate of two trains per hour.
  • Travel time from Modiin Central to Jerusalem station will be about 29 minutes, and from the outskirts of Modiin to Jerusalem will be about 22 minutes.

As part of the project, three bridges and a tunnel were built, with a total length of about 650 meters, the "Modi'in Outskirts" station was upgraded and expanded, including the addition of two train platforms and improving and widening the underground passage between the platforms. All flooring in the station was replaced, and the lighting was upgraded to LED. In addition, a 165-meter-long pedestrian bridge was built, which includes elevators for full accessibility, and a new car park was established, adjacent to the Einav Center, which includes about 650 parking spaces.


  • Upon completion of the engineering and electrification work on the line, starting on Friday, April 1, 2022, the Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon - Tel Aviv - Herzliya line will also operate on Fridays, with the frequency of one train every hour in each direction.
  • Along with the operation of the new line to Jerusalem, the service on the lines traveling between Modi'in and Tel Aviv and other destinations will be improved, operating hours will be extended until midnight (approximately) and services will operate on Fridays and Saturday evenings.
